I have been surrounded by many aspiring (and established) songwriters, artists, producers, musicians, managers and music industry execs involved in music and, while they’re heavily involved in the music, there are many questions that remain unanswered - how do I get paid, what is a publisher, do I need a label deal, how do I get my music on TV, what is copyright and so on.

music:defined was developed to help music creatives understand the music business and get their head in the game, in order to have a successful and sustainable music career… And maybe even quit that 9-5. It all starts with taking the first step to take control of your music, and not leave anything to chance.

After years in the music industry I’m tired of seeing all the overwhelming information out there for music creatives, some of it not always accurate and a lot of waffle.

With my extensive expertise, love for music and passion for supporting songwriters, and the industry as a whole, I developed music:defined to share the knowledge. After all, knowledge is power!

I’m a lawyer, music industry master and advocate for the creator…

With two decades of experience in the industry - kicking off PRS for Music, spent nearly a decade at iTunes/Apple Music before being asked to join Warner Chappell Music to specialise in digital licensing, handled global music licensing at Peloton and now I’m repping at SoundCloud.

Over the years, I’ve been involved in many amazing projects and launches from the global launch of Apple Music, the Apple Music Festival (previously iTunes Festival), launching a national music magazine, setting up a publishing company, artist development projects, masterclasses and more recently working on specific projects to get you paid!

I have a wealth of experience and knowledge, and my years in the industry have contributed to my passion for supporting music creatives, especially in this ever-evolving digital space and I want to ensure music creatives are confident and have an understanding of the music business.

Most importantly, of course, I love music (and a decent sneaker)!
